LANGUAGE
Catalan is the Official Language of Barcelona. The Government speaks Catalan because it is the official language. Catalan is a mix of many European langueges encluding french, spanish, Italian, etc. Almost every one their speaks Spanish as well though. They speak some french but mostly spanish and Catalan.
Economy
Barcelona has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. They were ranked 4 in Europe's cities that produce the most money each year. They have a large stock exchange thats getting bigger each year. Chemicals, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, electronics, and appliance manufacturing are among Barcelona’s leading industries.Historically, the textile industry dominated Barcelona’s economy. Trade is probably the biggest part in Barcelonas economy.
Socail Organization
If your are from spain some people will treat you better than if you where from somewhere else, but up to a third of the population is from somewhere else so thats getting better. They are more open to other European countries traditions, but They are very loyal towards Spain. Most people their are friendly to other people who speak their language but some people will choose to ignore you if you speak English
Customs and Traditions
They are open to other countries traditions especially in Europe. They have a rich tradition of soccer, they have one the last two Euro Cups, and last world cup. Barcelona has many Cultural sites for spain including the maine spot for ‘Fiesta del Libro” wich means "Celebration of Books". April 23 is also the feast day of Catalonia’s patron saint, St. George. It has an abundance of archives and libraries.
Arts and LITERATURE
They have many theateres and museums like the Liceu Opera House, founded in 1847, presents opera and ballet performances. Art of the present and the past is housed in the National Art Museum of Catalonia. The Romea Theatre has been a focal point of Catalan-language drama since the 19th century. The Picasso Museum is in Barcelona because thats where Pablo is from Barcelona. A large copper fish sculpture by architect Frank Gehry stands at the Olympic Port entrance.
RELIGION
Religion is a key part in the diversity of Barcelona, they have many historic Catholic churches. SOme of these churches are not used and some are. Their is a large number of Roman Catholics which is the most popular religions. Many people do not have a religion in Barcelona. Their are many Christians and Protestants, the reason why they have a large number of so many different Religions is because they have a very diverse population.
Forms of government
Barcelona has a strong Government and they do not have much social strain because of it. They have a strong Economy so they never have to many huge issues. Barcelona governs the province of Barcelona. The councilors select a mayer and the mayer selects 3 people to help in hes office. Barcelona is the center for the Catalan movements towards independence. They elect new councilors every 4 years so its a Republic democracy.
